Irene G. “Reenie” Anzo, 94, of Hutchinson, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS.

Irene was born in Hutchinson, KS on August 29, 1929, the daughter of Mauro and Pauline (Jaramillo) Garcia. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1947 and attended Salt City Business College. She was a secretary at Hutchinson Bag Corporation for several years and did other secretarial work, but was a homemaker most of her married life.

Irene loved music, singing, reading and also loved to sew, crochet, knit and working on puzzles. She especially loved being with her children. She sang in her youth at church and in a small high school ensemble. Irene and her sister, Virginia, sang at many social gatherings and Irene also sang solo. On February 13, 1954, she married Ralph C. Anzo in Hutchinson. He passed away on May 21, 2013. They shared 59 years of marriage.

Survivors include her son, Steven G. Anzo and wife, Sandra; son-in-law, Larry Cruz; three granddaughters, Erika Anzo, Kristen Gates and Alexis Cruz; three grandsons, Steven A. Anzo, Joseph Cruz and Alex Cruz; and great grandson twins, Lincoln and Memphis Witt. She also had over 125 nieces and nephews for whom she had much love for.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph; daughter, Sally K. Cruz; and her brothers and sisters.

Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th, Hutchinson, KS, with Father Will Stuever officiating. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until rosary on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS. Memorial may be made to Hospice of Reno County or American Cancer Society and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS 67502.
