SHAWNEE COUNTY—A lightning strike is blamed for a fire early Monday in rural Shawnee County.

Just before 3:30a.m. Monday, the Mission Township Fire Department was dispatched to the 5600 Block of SW 53rd Street in rural Shawnee County.&nbsp; A caller reported a barn fire after the structure was struck by lightning.

Upon arrival, crews found the barn fully involved. Crews quickly initiated fire attack and were able to bring the fire under control. There were no injuries reported.

190th Air Refueling Wing - Kansas Air National Guard and Shawnee County Fire District #2 - Auburn Fire&nbsp;assisted.
