Verna Elizabeth Gorges Milburn, 94, died October 20, 2023, at Legend of Hutchinson.  She was born June 1, 1929, in Nickerson, to Joseph Cary and Blanche May (McGonigle) Gorges.

Verna graduated from Abbyville High School in 1947.  She was the CEO of Milburn Oil Company and worked for Singleton-Joyce Optical.  Verna’s most treasured job was that of a wife, mother, and grandmother.  She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, knitting, cooking, cake decorating, and gardening.  Verna was a member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68.  She was of the Methodist faith, and attended Partridge Community Church.

On November 26, 1948, she married Harold Junior Milburn, in Clayton, NM.  He died September 24, 2014, after they shared almost 66 years of marriage.

Verna is survived by:  son, Michael W. Milburn (Laura Kuehn-Milburn) of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter-in-law, Martha Green Milburn; grandchildren, Christopher L. Milburn, Melinda Clifton (Simon), Dr. Jessica L. Villalobos (Samuel), Garrett Kuehn-Milburn (Lauren), and Dr. Matthew G. Milburn (Erin); eight great-grandchildren, Dillon H. Milburn, Gemma W. Milburn, Addison R. Villalobos, Chloe A. Villalobos, Luke A. Villalobos, Murphy C. Kuehn, Reagan A. Kuehn, and Archie G. Clifton; brother, Harold Gorges (Connie); and sister, Ruth Schoaf.

She was preceded in death by:  her parents; in-laws, Geroge Harold and Eva Milburn; son, Dr. Gary Lee Milburn; brothers, Clayton Gorges and John Gorges; and a sister, Joyce Marie Gorges.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2023, at Elliott Chapel, with Chaplain Luke Helmuth officiating.  Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
