HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson YMCA exceeded their 2023 Strong Community Campaign Goal ahead of the deadline.

"Our goal this year was $92,000," said David Foster with the YMCA. "That goes directly to provide membership and program scholarships for people that wouldn't otherwise be able to afford to participate at the Y. It also helps fund some of our free community based programs, like the Saturday Night at the Y and the Willpower Hour classes."

There were at least 193 givers to the campaign.

"Usually, we go up about 10% every year," Foster said. "Last year, we had raised about $84,000. This year we went to $92,000. Through this morning, we are actually at almost $106,000. The campaign officially wraps up, we have to have everything done by March 6."

Foster is really appreciative of the generosity of the Hutchinson community.

"Even if it ended right now, we'd be really excited with the progress," Foster said. "That just helps close the gap on money that we would use from the operating budget to meet the need. The need that we have is greater than the money that we raise, but every bit we can get above our goal just helps close that gap."
