Freddie Gene “Jean” Bohnstedt, 97, passed peacefully on February 2, 2025, surrounded by her family in Hutchinson. Jean was born on June 8, 1927, in Shawnee, OK, to Archie Elmer and Florence Ann (Padgett) Cole.

In 1947, Jean married William H Kendall. They were blessed with two sons, William H. Kendall II and Randall L. Kendall. In 1968, she married Charles E. Bohnstedt. They were married 38 years before his passing in 2006. Jean had a passion for genealogy, spending many hours researching and documenting family history. She loved sharing stories about ancestors and connecting with relatives near and far. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). In her earlier years, she owned and operated three drive-in restaurants in the Junction City and Manhattan, KS, areas.

Jean is survived by her two sons; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Jean will be remembered for her warm smile, dignified grace, love of family and kind demeanor. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Please join Jean’s family in remembering her by sharing her life stories and celebrating her life of love and joy on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. The family will be present from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.
