TOPEKA – Kansas Governor Laura Kelly announced today that $4.1 million in Community Service Program (CSP) Tax Credits has been awarded to 36 nonprofit organizations across the state to boost fundraising efforts focused on improving local access to quality child care, health care, education, arts, and housing.
Locally, in Buhler, Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community is creating a Homes Plus Memory Care Center designated specifically for residents in early onset stages of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. The state awarded $116,000 in credits.
Regionally, in North Newton, Bethel College received credits for a student and community wellness facility with a gymnasium, weightlifting space, two lane walking track, large open lobby for social events, climbing wall and more. The state awarded $116,000 in credits.
Also, in Pratt, the Pratt Daycare Project will provide daycare space for up to 110 children from infant through preschool age (up to 5). To accomplish this project, the Pratt Childcare Foundation has been incorporated and tasked with the process of renovating an approximately 21,000 square foot facility over two phases. The state awarded $200,000 in credits.
CSP tax credits have been issued in the Sunflower State since 1994. The program provides a 70% tax credit to qualified donors in rural communities (populations less than 15,000) and a 50% tax credit in larger communities. The credits are a direct deduction from the donor’s state tax obligation.
