HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Two days after dropping just its second game of the season, No. 5 Hutchinson (17-2, 11-2) bounced back with a double-digit victory over Independence (7-12, 4-9).

Both teams scored in triple digits again, but didn't come near the 259 combined points put up in a five-point loss to Garden City on Saturday.

A barrage of threes to close the first half put Hutchinson on top for good.

The Dragons dropped 10 of 20 from distance to take a nine-point lead at the half.

Six different Dragons knocked down a triple in the first half.

Indy took an eight-point lead just 6:40 into the contest. But Hutchinson used the next 11 minutes to build a 14-point lead.

The Dragons extended that lead to 21 late in the second half before finishing off the Pirates by 15.

FINAL: Hutchinson 118 Independence 103

Six Dragons scored in double figures, led by Angelo Stuart's 25. Stuart played just four minutes in the second half and only needed 17 minutes on the night for his 9 of 17 shooting performance that included 3 of 6 from distance.

Cecil Lee (17), Kaimen Lennox (15), Jacquez Yow (13), Jayden Garrison (13) and Nate Goodlow (11) all added double digits.

Lee just missed a double-double with nine rebounds while hitting 4 of 6 threes.

The Dragons gave up 62 points in the paint (two nights after giving up 80 to Garden City), but scored 40 points on 24 Indy turnovers.

Johan Nziemi (27) and Jordan Clark (24) led the Pirates in scoring.

Fifty-six fouls were called in the game (39 in the second half). Eighty-three free throws were taken between the teams (48 for Indy).

Hutchinson shot 38% on 100 attempts and gave up 51.5% shooting to a Pirate team that took 66 shots.
