Erlinda Vieyra, 90, died February 19, 2025, at her home in Hutchinson. She was born April 6, 1934, in Dodge City, Kansas, to Antonio and Lus (Perez) Flores, Sr.

Erlinda graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1953. She worked for the family restaurant, Anchor Inn, and as a paraprofessional for USD 308.

In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo, tending to her garden, playing volleyball, rolling strikes in her bowling league, and leading both boy and girl scouts.

Erlinda was a spiritual and faithful catholic. She was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. She was president of the OLG Women’s Altar Society and a member of their Spanish choir.

Erlinda poured her heart and soul into her family as a devoted homemaker, earning the title of the world’s best mother and grandmother. Above all, nothing brought her more joy than spending precious time with her family.

On June 7, 1958, she married Trunkalino Velasquez “Trunkie” Vieyra, in Hutchinson. They shared over 60 years of marriage, prior to his death on June 1, 2019.

Erlinda is survived by: her children, David (Irene) Vieyra, Michael (Kathy) Vieyra, Edward (Marla Booher) Vieyra, Raylene (Mike) Selgrade, Lawrence (Michelle) Vieyra, Barbara Vieyra Luna, and Carolyn (John Dye) Vieyra; siblings, Antonio (Rachel) Flores, Jr., Jane (Santos) Amaya, Dolores “Lola” Flores, Cindy Flores, Rosie Landron, Daniel (Carol) Flores, Larry Flores and his companion Connie Johnson, Gregory (Susan) Flores, Sr.; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Trunkalino “Trunkie” Vieyra; daughter, Felecia “Lisa” Vieyra; sisters, Cruz Marquez and Celsa Flores; and brother, Gary Allen Flores.

Parish rosary will be 6 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2025, the family will greet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2025, both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 612 S. Maple, South Hutchinson, with Father Eric Weldon officiating.

Friends may sign her memorial book from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary.
