Dolores Jennings, 92, of Little River, passed away October 1, 2022, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River. She was born December 19, 1929, in Belleville, the daughter of Perry T. and Elizabeth Shaver Rashleigh.
Dolores has resided in Little River since 1947, briefly moving to Lyons in 2008 and back to Little River in December of 2021. She graduated from Lincolnville High School, Lincolnville, with the class of 1947. Dolores attended McPherson College and received her teaching certificate from Emporia State Teacher’s College.
She was a former teacher at the Odessa Township School and worked briefly at the Home State Bank in Little River. Dolores was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Little River, United Methodist Women, Eastern Star, Domestic Arts Club, Special Tuesday Breakfast Group, and Bridge Club. She was a census volunteer and served on the Election Board.
On December 25, 1949, Dolores was united in marriage with William “Lloyd” Jennings in Little River. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2001. She is also preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Max DaMetz; brother, Perry L. Rashleigh; and two sisters, Betty Reilly and Barbara Irvine.
Dolores is survived by her four children, Linda DaMetz of Olathe, Sheryl Carlson and husband Verle of Lyons, Janet Lord and husband Murray of Olathe, and David Jennings and wife Shelly of Wichita; sister, Phyllis Denison of Santa Barbara, CA; and eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, Erin Deneke and husband Tim and their children, Grace, Sam and Emily; Ryan DaMetz and wife Kristen and children, Bennett and Simon; Brandon Carlson and wife Sarah and their children, Peyton and Kenzy; Derek Carlson and wife Andrea and their children, Patrick and Cooper; Blake Carlson and wife Raqual and their child, Vayda; Alex Lord and his partner Rebecca Tanner; Eric Lord; Hannah Weston and husband Cody and their children, Joel and James; Seth Jennings and wife Lauren; Luke Jennings; Hallie Jennings; and Jayden Williams.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church, Little River, with Pastor Anna Borders officiating. Burial will follow at the Bean Memorial Cemetery, Little River. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Friday, October 7, 2022, at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M.
