Katherine “Kathy” Sullivan Ewing, 94, peacefully passed away March 24, 2025, in her Burrton home. She was born July 10, 1930, in Hutchinson, to Everett Michael Carr and Dorothy S. Fettis.

Kathy graduated from Hutchinson High School. She also attended Adela Hale Business School. Before retirement, Kathy was a bookkeeper for Westlake Ace Hardware South store for many years. She had also worked for Hutchinson Floral and Gibsons.  

She loved flowers and plants of all kinds, so she found joy being in her garden and was always eager to accumulate “one more” for her collection. For many years, she raised and showed rabbits, she also raised chickens and was known as the “egg lady.” In addition, Kathy enjoyed hanging freshly washed laundry up to dry, reading her Bible, and a good game of Dominos. However, there was nothing better for her than time spent with her grandchildren who she dearly loved. She is remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

A member of Faith Community Bible Church, Burrton and Young At Hearts, her faith was the cornerstone of her life.

In 1948, Kathy married Travis Powell Sullivan, they later divorced. She then married Earl A. Ewing in 1992

Kathy is survived by: her children, Cindy Lucille (Mike) Marinchak, Michael (Beverly) Sullivan, and Lorelei C. Sullivan; sister, Fern Moots; 9 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Travis and husband Earl; son, James Sullivan; daughter, Tracie Roseann Ginest; sisters, Shirley Gibson, Georgia May, and Davida Hedger; and uncle, Everett Fettis.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Steve Hodgson officiating. Burial will follow in Burrton Cemetery, Burrton. Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
