KANSAS CITY —One person died in an accident just after 3:30a.m. Saturday in Kansas City.
According to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a silver Chevrolet Malibu crossed the double yellow line and was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Independence Avenue. In the area of Independence Avenue and Jackson Street, the Chevrolet struck an eastbound Ford Taurus head-on. EMS transported the driver of the Chevrolet to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and they were pronounced deceased.
EMS transported the driver of the Ford and a front seat passenger of the Chevrolet to local hospitals. Both had life-threatening injuries and were listed in critical condition. This is fatality #65 compared to #89 at this time last year, according to Gonzalez. Police have not released the name of the driver who died or additional details.
