GEARY COUNTY —A Kansas fire department ambulance was involved in an accident just 8a.m. Friday in Geary County.

The crew from the Junction City Fire department were returning from responding to a traffic accident when Medic 2(563) left the roadway and rolled onto its side, according to a social media report.

The conditions were moderate to heavy rain at the time of the incident.

The Kansas Highway Patrol conducted the accident investigation, while Junction City, Kansas Police Department provided traffic units to the scene. No patients were on board the unit, and both technicians wore their seatbelts. This just proves that any vehicle can hydroplane given the current conditions and that seat belts save lives.
