
Barbara Wiegand was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, on October 3, 1956, and passed away on November 7, 2023. She was the only daughter of Harold E. and Maxine M. Sours Stever.
Barbara attended public schools and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1974. She learned to play the piano when she was three years old. Barbara was involved in musical programs and various singing groups all through school. She was a voracious reader pretty much her whole life, along with being a very skilled needlecraft person. Barbara was a life member of the Antique Automobile Club of America, a life member of the Horseless Carriage Club of American, and a life member of the Veteran Motor Car Club of America.
She married Terry Wiegand on March 11, 1978, in Hutchinson, and they started their life together in Waterloo, Iowa. Terry was working for John Deere in Waterloo when their daughter, Mary Elizabeth Kathleen was born. They lived in Waterloo until late 1989, when they moved back to Hutchinson.
Barbara went to work for Cessna Aircraft Company in Wichita and held the position of Hazardous Materials Shipping Coordinator until leaving the company. She and Terry really enjoyed touring with their 1916 Buick Touring Car.
Barbara was preceded in death by: her parents; mother and father-in-law; and various aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by: her husband of 45+ years; her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Kathleen Wiegand Strong; son-in-law, James Strong; grandsons, Bobby and Matt Strong; stepdaughter, Jennifer Lund; step-grandsons, Allen Roush, Levi Clark; niece, Sarah Montoya; and Miss Muggins, her faithful Scotty Girl.
Per Barbara’s request, she wanted to be cremated and no service to be held.
Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily until Friday, November 17, 2023, at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
