Reno County EM gives rundown of rural fires

RENO COUNTY — Reno County Fire Districts were kept busy Sunday afternoon and evening.

Reno County Fire District # 9 was dispatched to a brush fire on South Worthington Road. With the extreme fire conditions, Reno Kingman Joint Fire District # 1 and Reno County Fire District # 8 were also attached to that call. A total of 12 suppression units, 1 command and 2 support units answered the call. Less than an acre of grass, soybean debris and trees burned. The cause of the fire was noted as undetermined.

Later in the afternoon, Reno Harvey Joint Fire District # 2 assisted Hutchinson Fire Department with a structure fire on E 56th.

Sunday evening, Reno County Fire District # 4 was dispatched to a brush fire on South Sterling Road. Initial units dispatched were from Reno County Fire District # 4, Reno County Fire District # 6 and Reno County Fire District # 7. The area was heavily wooded and had structures threatened. Additional districts were also dispatched. Those included Reno County Fire District # 8 and Reno Kingman Joint Fire District # 1.

Seventeen suppression units and four support units assisted in that incident. Minor structure damage was reported to a building. Other losses and a cause are not known at this time.
