Nicholas Dean “Nick” Urbin, 57, of Wichita, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. He was born on December 5, 1966 in Newton, Kansas to Robert & Mary (Purkey) Urbin.
Nick attended Valley Center schools and graduated from Valley Center High School in 1985. He played football for VCHS and liked the competition of the defensive end position. After graduation, he held a variety of jobs and never shied away from hard work.
Nick’s passion were his children. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan for many decades. He enjoyed his friends, hunting, fishing, cooking and finding new recipes to share.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Urbin; a brother, Rusty Urbin; grandparents, Donald & Mary Jane Purkey and Jack & Gertrude Urbin; aunts Kay Monge and Marjorie Purkey; uncle Donald “Bud” Purkey, Jr and cousin Donalyn “Doni” Arbuckle.
Nick is survived by his mother Mary Donna Urbin, sister Lora (Joey) King of Valley Center and brother Kelly Urbin of Valley Center. His three children Cherish (Alan) Freeman of Wichita, Faith Urbin and Luke Urbin both of (Grand Junction, CO) and two grandchildren Gavin and Charlotte; several nephews, three great nephews and many cousins.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Bentley Kansas.
