Reno County seeking man on felony warrants

RENO COUNTY, Kan. — UPDATE: James Monroe Smith was taken into custody during the early morning hours on New Years Day without incident. 

The Reno County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public's assistance in locating James Monroe Smith.

James has several active felony warrants and is known to frequent Arlington, Pretty Prairie and other southern areas of Reno County.

James is also suspected of recently committing aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, flee and elude and interference with Law Enforcement.

If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of James Monroe Smith, do not approach and please call 911.

Callers can remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward if the information given leads to an arrest of a felony offender.

The person involved has not yet been convicted of a crime and is presumed innocent. The presumption of innocence shall continue until such time that the person accused may be found guilty by a court of law.

Charges may be amended at the discretion of the District Attorney and Court.
