RENO COUNTY, Kan. — The Reno County Sheriff's Office investigated the report of an unidentified male shooting a weapon into the air, out of the back of a pickup in the county after school on Tuesday afternoon.

A Nickerson-South Hutchinson USD 309 route bus was in the general vicinity and several students and the driver saw this take place. The bus was not near the person, none of the shots were at the bus, and no one was injured.

It was later determined it was dove hunters shooting at birds. The sheriff’s office asks hunters to abide by all Wildlife and Parks regulations. Unless the hunter has a disability permit, according to those regulations, it is unlawful to shoot at game from a vehicle.
