HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson USD 308 Superintendent Dr. Dawn Johnson said Tuesday that the district is hosting a leaders luncheon this week on April 21.

"We kind of happened to do this last year," Johnson said. "We had one legislator show up. Lynette Krieger-Zook, our HNEA President had kind of said, let's provide a tour of the Career and Tech Ed building. She just kind of did that and I went with her. So, I sat down with her this year and said, what if we were intentional about this and during the recess, we invite not just state legislators, but also some city and county representatives?"

Hutchinson City Council members, Reno County Commissioners, the local representative to the State Board of Education and the local legislators are all invited.

"The Reno County Superintendents get together once a month and we just collaborate," Johnson said. "This will be our collaboration. Also, usually, when we collaborate, we also invite the private school to that conversation. We have a private school and a homeschool representative that will also be coming to our luncheon. About ten of those city, county and state legislators have RSVPed and let me know they are going to make it."

The group will be served lunch prepared by HCTEA Culinary Arts students prior to the facility tour.
