HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Nickerson-South Hutchinson USD 309 Board of Education will have its organizational meeting Monday night.

On the agenda are the routine annual appointments of employees of the district for official requirements of state and federal law, along with the designation of an official newspaper and all the resolutions required by state statute.

The board will also adopt its official meeting dates, which are generally the second Monday of each month at the district offices on West 4th.

In addition, the district will adopt its routine meal charge policy. There will be no charge for those who have filled out the form and qualify for free lunches. Students who are eligible for reduced price or full price meals may charge up to three meals when their account is empty, up to a dollar limit of $1.20 for reduced, $8.85 for K-6 paid and $9.30 for 7-12 paid.

Once that limit has been reached, an alternate meal will be provided. Those alternate meals are cereal and milk for breakfast, or a sack lunch of a meat and cheese sandwich with fruit and milk.

Parents will receive notification of a low balance from the school by letter, phone call or email. The school's food service secretary will manage those accounts. The food service secretary also will help handle any free or reduced lunch applications needed that are not filed at registration.

The meeting will take place at the USD 309 District office at 4501 West 4th at 7 p.m.
