
Burrel Dean Tennison passed away November 8, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. He was born December 19, 1940, in Berwyn, OK, the son of Victor and Mabel Tennison.
Burrel graduated from Upland High School, Upland, CA, in 1959. He served in the United States Navy from February 1, 1961, until January 6, 1965. In 1976, Burrel moved his family to Stafford, KS, where he was the owner/operator of Stafford Plumbing for over 30 years. He was a member of the Stafford Church of the Nazarene, coached Stafford Youth Baseball, hosted numerous church youth gatherings, and taught his family to know the Lord Jesus through his love, actions, and teaching of the Word of God.
Burrel was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Lonnie Tennison; and sister, Vicky Van Alstine.
He is survived by: his son, Scott Tennison and wife, Chris of Roseburg, OR; daughter, Katherine “Kelly” Love and husband, Dale of Partridge, KS; daughter, Susan “Susie” Petellin and husband, Kurt of Coeur d’Alene, ID; sister, Margaret Barber of Tucson, AZ; twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Burrel was lovingly known as son, brother, husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Grandpa-great.
Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Pleasant Hill Church of the Nazarene, 406 S. Shepherd, Sylvia, KS. A private family burial will be held at Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery, Winfield, KS. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard and the American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given for Youth Ministry at Pleasant Hill Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 37, Sylvia, KS 67581. Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, is in charge of arrangements.
