
BUTLER COUNTY—Two people including a registered Kansas offender were injured in an accident just after 1p.m. Sunday in Butler County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2010 Mazda 6 driven by Sheldon Tyler Flyingout, 30, a registered violent offender from Wichita, was westbound on U.S. 54 just east of southwest Diamond Road fleeing law enforcement.
A westbound 2017 Ford F150 driven by Melodee Denise Brown, 68, Douglas, was in the outside lane and attempted to yield to law enforcement by moving to the right shoulder.
The Mazda attempted to pass the pickup on the right shoulder and rear-ended the Ford. EMS transported Brown to Susan B Allen Memorial Hospital. Flyingout was not transported for treatment of a minor injury. He has been listed as a Registered Kansas Violent Offender since 2013 for convictions that include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal discharge of a firearm at an occupied dwelling, according to the offender registry. He has additional convictions for burglary, theft and violations of the offender registration act, according to the Kansas Dept. of Corrections. He was discharged from prison in February.
