On May 18, 2024, Ernesto Ayson Ramirez passed away at his home in Hutchinson, KS. He was born October 7, 1940, in San Esteban, Ilocos Sur, to Loreto and Irene (Ayson) Ramirez.
On October 28, 1961, he married the love of his life, Donna Jean Brock.
Before moving to Hutchinson to be closer to family, Ernesto lived in Kaneohe, HI, where he was co-owner of Honolulu Painting Company. He was an artist who enjoyed building, drawing and painting, but his main hobby was taking care of his chickens. Ernesto loved to tinker and always found the most creative and efficient ways to do things. He enjoyed passing along his knowledge and sharing his little tricks with his children and grandchildren. “It's only easy” he would say as he prepared to teach you something new.
Ernesto is survived by: his wife of almost 63 years, Donna Ramirez of Hutchinson, KS; children, Laurie Barrozo, Ernest Ramirez (Cheriene), Dennis Ramirez (Angel), all of Hutchinson, KS, Teresa Ramirez (Rob) of Kailua, HI, and Ricky Ramirez of Hutchinson, KS; brother, Wilson Ramirez (Shirley) of Kahalu'u, HI; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Norman Ramirez; sister, Josephine Reyes; and son-in-law, Earnest “Flash” Darrington.
Celebration of life service will be 2:00 pm on June 7, 2024 at Elliott Mortuary. Friends may sing his book from 9:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 1;00 p.m. until service time on June 7, 2024. Burial will follow at Burrton Cemetery.
