Velma Pearl Becker Boehs, 98, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Moundridge. She was born on January 30, 1926 in Major County, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jonathan and Eva (Nightengale) Smith.
She was a member of the Gospel Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Moundridge.
Velma graduated from the Central Kansas Area Vocational Technical School in McPherson in 1972 with her LPN certificate.
She was united in marriage to Dayton Dale Becker on June 8, 1947 in Fairview, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on January 3, 1979. Velma later married Jesse J. Boehs on June 19, 1981 at the Lone Tree Mennonite Church, Galva. He passed away March 6, 2002.
Velma was owner and operator of Home Drapery in Moundridge. She also worked as an LPN at McPherson Hospital.
She is survived by her children, Vincent (Naomi) Becker of Moundridge, and Pamela (Stephen) McCullough of Prairie Village; two grandchildren, Hope Becker and William (Allison) McCullough; two great-grandchildren, Wesley and Rowan McCullough; and many nieces and nephews.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dayton Becker; 2nd husband, Jess Boehs; brothers, Victor, Herman, Franklin, Alden, and Wayne Smith; and two infant brothers, Vernon and Lee Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Gospel Mennonite Church, Moundridge. Family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 12 at Gospel Mennonite Church. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 14 at Cedar Cemetery, Fairview, Oklahoma.
