Karen Sue Stauffacher, 77, died January 13, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society-Hutchinson Village.  She was born May 26, 1946, in Emporia, to Ascel B. and Inez A. (Wilkey) Shultz.

Karen graduated from Gridley High School, Gridley, KS, and Stormont Vail Nursing School, Topeka. She worked as a LPN for Dr. Robert Coleman.  Karen enjoyed playing softball, gardening, making crafts, and even refurbishing furniture and working on electrical wiring.  She was also a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan!  Above all, Karen treasured her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Karen was a former member of Walnut and Campbell Church of Christ, and currently a member of Eastwood Church of Christ.

On April 2, 1988, she married the love of her life, Gary L. Stauffacher, in Hutchinson.

Karen is survived by:  her soulmate and husband of almost 36 years, Gary Stauffacher of Hutchinson; children, Randy Stauffacher (Marie) of Hutchinson, Shelley Turley (Dale) of Scott City, Scott Stauffacher (Doll) of Middletown, MO, and Tina Rupe (J.J.) of Elizabethtown, KY; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents. 

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Elliott Chapel, with Wayne DeWindt officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.  The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to service time on Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
