Steven L Scott, 60, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 in Wichita, KS.  The light, love and laughter that he brought to this world with his positive attitude and loving personality will be greatly missed.  He would tell you that he was a Kansas City Chiefs fan before it was cool, and Star Wars is so cool.  He loved music and all motorcycles but especially Harley Davidson, the louder the better.  One of his favorite sayings to live by - improvise, adapt and overcome.

He was born on January 9, 1965, the son of Graydon L. Scott and Dora Mignon Scott.  Born and raised in Hutchinson, Kansas, he graduated from Hutchinson High School and later graduated from Wichita Technical Institute.

On June 6, 1986 he married Michelle J. Barnes of Hutchinson Kansas.  They were blessed with two sons, Matthew Scott (Maria), Kansas City, Missouri and Corey Scott, Wichita Kansas and two dear grandchildren, Matthew Scott and Ana Scott. They survive.

Other survivors include sisters, Nan Hawver (Jerry), Hutchinson, Kansas and Laura Harrell (Jim), Sardis, Mississippi, sister-in-law Tammy Gough (Bill), and brother-in-law, Bill Barnes, many cousins, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.  Also, many friends that became family.

Preceded in death by parents and brother, John Scott, brother-in-law, James Barnes and nephew Troy.

He was a member of Thomas Hopkins Post 4 Sons of American Legion and the American Legion Riders and loved to support veterans in any way possible.

The memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2025 at Baker Funeral Home West, 3224 N Tyler Road, Wichita, KS 67205 with Pastor Rich Neu of First Congregational Church in Maize, KS presiding.  Dress is casual and feel free to wear your favorite Kansas City Chiefs, Star Wars or Harley Davidson Motorcycle attire.  Burial will be completed at a later date.
