HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce recognized a wide range of local businesses and community leaders during its annual awards night on Tuesday, highlighting contributions across multiple sectors and celebrating long-standing community impact.

The event, held at the Crystal Ballroom at the Burt, marked the fifth year the Chamber has hosted a standalone awards ceremony after expanding the number of honors presented. The evening featured several categories recognizing emerging leaders, established businesses, and community volunteers.

Dr. Cecilia Hinton of PrairieStar Health Center was named the Chamber’s “Rising Star,” recognized for both her professional accomplishments and extensive volunteer work in the community.

In veteran-related categories, Gentiva Hospice received the Veteran Supporting Business Award, while Taylor Morris of 620 Strength was honored as the Veteran-Owned Business of the Year.

The Minority-Owned Business Award went to Redemption Ink Tattoo, owned by Luis Gutierrez, who was also recognized as a monthly award winner earlier in the year.

Kitty Keyser of Details Event Planning was named Ambassador of the Year. A Chamber ambassador for more than a decade, Keyser participated in 37 of the organization’s 42 events last year, assisting with coordination and volunteer efforts.

The Chamber’s Legacy Awards recognized both a business and an individual with long-standing ties to Hutchinson. Sunflower Electric was honored for more than 75 years of service in the community, while Richard Westfall of Westfall Jewelers received the individual Legacy Award. Westfall has operated his business locally since the late 1970s and was praised for his personal approach to customer service and community relationships.

The evening concluded with the announcement of the 2025 Small Business of the Year, awarded to Hedrick Exotic Animal Farm. Owners Joe and Aaron Hedrick were recognized for their unique attraction and contributions to local tourism and events, including the Kansas State Fair.
