Alex W. Macleod, died October 15, 2025, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.  He was born January 4, 1932, in Dunoon, Scotland.

Alex is survived by:  his spouse, Judy Macleod of Hutchinson; son and daughters from previous marriage, Ian Macleod, Una Macleod and Fiona Macleod; three grandsons, Matthew Goins, Alec Macleod, and Connor Macleod; granddaughter, Anne Macleod; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Patterson, Brian Bevington, and Harrison Goins.

He was preceded in death by:  his mother and father, Catherine (Livingston) Macleod and John Leo Macleod of Scotland/London, England; son from previous marriage, Ken Macleod; one sister, Etta Morss of London, England; and three brothers, Kenneth, Ronald, and Brian of Toronto, Canada. 

Alex was raised in Dunoon, Scotland and educated at St. Munn’s Catholic School and Dunoon Grammar School.  He was baptized at St. Munn’s Catholic Church.  Due to the local economy, he left school in 1947 and was deployed ferrying army personnel and clearing ammunition from the west coast of Scotland.  In 1948, Alex joined the British Merchant Marines and rose through the ranks to Second Mate.  During this time, he saw most of the world.  

Alex immigrated to Canada in 1957 and was employed by a farm manufacturing firm for 30 years.  During that time, he received many promotions in Canada and the United States.  Alex was transferred to England for two years and assessed the potential of establishing an “in-house” retail finance arm in the UK.  He was promoted to sales manager for construction machinery in North America.  Alex retired as sales director for the combine division in North America.  For 20 years, he founded and operated B & B Hydraulics, Inc. repair business with Mo Penny, finally retiring in 2007.

In 1955, Alex married Anne McVicar Matheson, in Scotland.  He later married Judy Lister, in Des Moines, IA.  They lived in Wichita a year before moving to Hutchinson.

Alex was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and served on the church council and as an elder.  During that time, he volunteered calling on shut-ins of church members.  In addition, Alex was a former member of the Hutchinson Executive Association, Hutchinson, Reno County Chamber of Commerce, and Crazy Horse Golf Club. 

Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2025, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 407 E. 12th, Hutchinson, with Pastors Quentin Nuttmann and Henry Blickhahn officiating.  Inurnment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.  Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.   The family will receive friends on Friday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
