NEWTON, Kan. — A Kansas man was killed following an accident while doing maintenance on a large recreational vehicle in Harvey County Saturday.

Authorities say 66-year-old Robert Brooks of Wichita was working on the RV with another individual in the 6600 block of South Anderson Road, south of Newton, when the RV rolled on top of him around 5:30 p.m.

The RV was partially lifted off the ground with a floor jack and wheel chocks. Brooks was working underneath the vehicle when it rolled forward off the safety equipment and onto him.

The other individual called 911. The Harvey County Sheriff’s Office and Newton Fire/EMS were called, but Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene.
