HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Regional Medical Center announced Wednesday that Dr. Regina Johnson will join Hutchinson Regional Medical Center as the organization’s Chief Clinical Officer.
Johnson’s responsibilities will be split approximately 50-50 between serving as a primary care physician and in an administrative capacity working closely with the network of doctors within the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Johnson graduated from Buhler High School, then enrolled at Kansas State University where, in 2000, she graduated cum laude with a degree in Life Science with a minor in Biology. Soon after graduation, her next step took her to the University of Kansas School of Medicine, graduating in 2005.
Johnson served a three-month stint as a surgical clerkship in Zanzibar, Africa, and was employed at the Heart and Family Institute in Port St. Lucie, Florida, before returning to Kansas. Dr. Johnson currently serves as Chief Medical Officer for Hunter Health in Wichita and was Medical Director for Serenity Hospice of Hutchinson before that.

Dr. Johnson said she looks forward to joining Hutchinson Regional. “I am extremely excited to now be a part of Hutchinson Regional Medical Center and can’t wait to see what the years to come hold for this tremendous team,” Dr. Johnson said. “I truly believe that all people deserve quality healthcare and this commitment to the patient experience and excellence in quality care and personalized patient relationships is what drives me. I am enthusiastically committed to the concept of whole person wellness and hope to work within the community to establish and/or promote public health programs and awareness.”
Ken Johnson, president and CEO of Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System, called Dr. Johnson’s decision to join the hospital a reason to celebrate. “She has a vast background in multiple facets of healthcare and we are ecstatic Dr. Johnson has chosen Hutchinson Regional as the next stop in her professional career and hope her tenure will be long,” Johnson said. “Also, it is refreshing when one of our own in Reno County expresses support for our community and healthcare system. She will have an immediate positive impact on Hutchinson Regional.”
“Dr. Johnson has served with distinction in a number of healthcare organizations and has left each one better as a result of her skills as a physician coupled with her tremendous leadership skills,” Johnson continued.
