HUTCHINSON, Kan. — According to a social media post from the Hutchinson Police Department, Annette Wilson and Ray Hemman (Church Counselor) with the Emanuel Lutheran Church have been operating Repair and Share for 4 years.
The ambition of Repair and Share is that gently used bicycles may be dropped off at the church, where a church member repairs them so that they are able to be ridden. Then the bicycles are offered for those in need upon request, with proof of identification.
Last year the program exceeded expectations and is now reaching more people in need of transportation than ever before.
The Hutchinson Police Department frequently picks up abandoned bicycles, if they are not picked up within the 60 day required hold, they will now be donated to Repair and Share. Those who wish to donate bicycles should reach out to the church at (620) 662-8622.
