
DERBY, Kan. — The Hutchinson Monarchs collected 12 hits in an 8-4 win against the Derby Twins on Sunday evening to win the series, 2-1. The game was moved from Hutchinson to Derby following unplayable field conditions at Hobart-Detter after Saturday nights storms.
Former HutchCC Blue Dragon Will Edmunson went 4-for-5 at the plate with a home run and a double. Cooper Harris went 2-for-5 with a double and a couple of RBI. Caleb Cotton and Brett Black also collected doubles for the Monarchs in the win.
Brady Beverman got the start on the mound and went five innings, allowing two hits. Noah Kelley picked up his third win of the summer, going three innings of relief. Carson Cornelius tossed a scoreless ninth inning of relief, striking out two.
The Monarchs are now 4-5 on the season and will be on the road in Augusta this evening to face the Kansas Cannons (8-2). First pitch from Wheeler Stadium in Augusta is scheduled for 7 p.m. The two teams will play at Hobart-Detter Field in Hutch on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
