SEDGWICK COUNTY —A suspect who admitted setting a fire near the historic Orpheum Theatre, 200 N Broadway Street, in Wichita is going to prison.
On Friday Judge Seth Rundell sentenced 34-year-old Jeremy Wycoff of Wichita to 30 months in prison, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office. In September, Wycoff pleaded guilty to aggravated arson.
On the evening of April 10, 2025, crews responded to report of a fire near the 102-year-old theatre that is undergoing renovations.
"Thanks to the quick response of Wichita Fire Department, the situation was contained before it caused any major damage to our building or our neighbors along First Street," the theatre announced on their social media page.
Three days after the crime, police arrested Wycoff and booked him into the Sedgwick County Jail where he remained jailed on a bond of just over $100,000.
