
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Fire Department responded to the 600 Block of West 7th around 7:40 a.m. for a structure fire. Arriving crews found a single story residence with smoke showing from the windows.
Crews started working the fire but were met with heavy hoarding conditions. Crews eventually made their way inside and quickly extinguished the fire. The fire appeared to have been smoldering for a long period of time prior to being noticed by the reporting party. The home, which was unoccupied at the time, sustained heavy floor damage from the fire along with the hoarding conditions.
City inspectors were called out to address the building's condition and have since stated the home will have to be razed. No injuries were reported throughout the incident. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
