
Larry L. Stiggins, 82, passed away February 2, 2023, in Lubbock, TX. He was born July 7, 1940, in Hutchinson, KS, the son of Norval W. and Beryl (Carson) Stiggins.
Larry was a 1958 graduate of Sylvia Rural High School, a 1960 graduate of Hutchinson Junior College (Associate in Arts), a 1963 graduate of Abilene Christian College (Bachelor of Science in Education), and a 1985 graduate of The University of Texas at Tyler (Master of Technology). He also attended graduate school at Texas A&M University.
He taught Industrial Technology and coached football, volleyball, boys’ and girls’ basketball, and track over a span of 47 years in Kansas, New Mexico, and Texas. He also taught drivers education and refereed high school basketball for over 40 years. He was proud to call Texas home for over 50 years. His most cherished memories were made camping and fishing in the mountains with friends and family.
On December 30, 1965, he married Mary Kay Myers in Sylvia, KS. They shared over 46 years of marriage, prior to her death on October 26, 2012.
Larry is survived by: his children, Stephanie Stiggins and her nephew, Cameron Wood of Lubbock, TX, and Todd and Erin Stiggins and their children, Wyatt, Kaytlen, and Grady Stiggins of New Home, TX; and seven nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his wife; parents; sister, Jane (Stiggins) Colle; and brother, Kent Stiggins.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the Sylvia Cemetery, Sylvia, KS, with Steve Sears officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2023, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
