
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Holmes, Mississippi may have knocked off the defending NJCAA National Champion Vincennes on Monday. But the run ended Tuesday as they were no match for the number two seeded Northern Oklahoma in the second round of the tournament falling to the Mavericks 77-66.
The game was close in the first half, but the Mavericks were able to put some room between them and the Bulldogs in the second half, leading by as many as 17 late in the game.
The Mavericks were led by Tyrel Morgan with 26 points and JD Ray with 24. Tyler Talley and Darius Clark both scored 13 for Holmes. The Bulldogs end the season at 16-5.
Northern Oklahoma moves on to play Coffeyville Thursday at 2 p.m.
