HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The new sanitation code for Reno County was approved as part of the agenda for the Board of County Commissioners at their meeting on Wednesday. As a companion move to that new code, the environmental health department has been moved.
Since the environmental health department's functions fit closely with those of planning and zoning when it comes to areas within the to be approved sanitation code, it was thought to be logical that the two departments would office together.
Environmental Health is now moved out to the Public Works facility in South Hutchinson where planning and zoning already is. Also, the division is now renamed the Environmental Division of Public Works.
