Darlene Joan (French) Joseph left this world on September 1st, 2024 with loved ones by her side.

Darlene was born to Roud French and Nora (Thill) French on October 20th, 1936 in Lyon County Kansas, Darlene was proud to be a Lamont Cardinal.

On August 29th, 1959, Darlene married Donald Joseph, Darlene and Donald went on to have two daughters Donna Marie (Riggs) and Dale Jean (Probst).

Darlene served the farmers of Barber County and surrounding areas at the ASCS office in Medicine Lodge for 37 years. Darlene loved her farmers and their families and the lifelong relationships she built with them. Darlene retired early to care for Don, who passed away in May of 1994.

Darlene then sold AVON, drove a route for Arrowhead West, worked at the Lincoln Library, the City of Medicine Lodge and served as Medicine Lodge Township Trustee. For many years Darlene made and donated cakes to support the Medicine Lodge Booster Club.

During her retirement years Darlene enjoyed attending her great-grandkids school functions and sporting events. The “job” Darlene was most fond of during retirement was keeping her great-granddaughter, Mayzee Don. Darlene cared for May from the time she was 6 weeks old until school age, they were the best of friends.

Darlene was an exceedingly loving, caring person, she was extremely passionate about caring for young and old. Darlene would love you like her own, make sure you were fed, and felt welcome at her house at any time. In her quest to be sure everyone grew up with the correct guidance, she earned the nickname “Big Bad Dar.”

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents Roud and Nora French, and her in-laws Jim and Pearl Joseph, husband Donald Joseph, and her beloved nephew Alan Joseph. Darlene’s survivors include daughters, Donna (Doug) Riggs of Council Bluffs, IA, Dale Jean (Steve) Probst of Medicine Lodge. 3 grand-daughters Kialee (Marshall), Rachael (Chris), Victoria and one grandson Robert (Libby). Great grandchildren: Corisa, Emilie, Chance, Kaydence, Mayzee, Kennedy, Thad, Liviana, Jack, and Waverly. Great-Great grandchildren: Delainey and Kashtyn.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 14,2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, KS with Pastor Tom Walters officiating.
