Hutchinson Fire Department
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Fire Department put out an electrical fire in a duplex Thursday afternoon.
According to a release from the department, crews responded at 2:43 p.m. at 319 East 8th.
Crews found light smoke coming out of the eaves of a one and a half story duplex. Crews went inside and found light smoke in the attic space. Crews were able to locate the smoldering fire with a thermal imager. Crews were able to open the ceiling to completely extinguish the fire.
All occupants safely exited the residence prior to arrival. No injuries were reported and moderate damage to home was sustained in the attic area.
Fire investigators determine the cause to be electrical.
Hutchinson Fire Department was assisted by Reno County EMS, Hutchinson Police Department, Hutchinson-Reno County Emergency Communication, Evergy, and Kansas Gas Service.
