
LEAVENWORTH COUNTY—The preliminary survey of damage from the storm that struck northeast Kansas April 27, indicates the tornado was an EF-1 in strength, according to the National Weather Service in Kansas City.

Just after 3:30a.m. CDT on April 27, a brief tornado developed in a line of severe thunderstorms south of Tonganoxie along US 24 and Chieftain Road. The tornado resulted in 105mph winds and a maximum width of 50 yards. The majority of damagae was to trees and an outbuilding,
There were no injuries reported.
