Siemens Gamesa still suffering supply chain issues

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Siemens Gamesa says they will reevaluate their work schedule at the Hutchinson nacelle facility after the Christmas holiday.

The facility has been under rolling furloughs since late October after continued supply chain issues limited parts coming into the facility. According to company spokesperson Myca Welch the company is still experiencing supply issues that may last into the new year.

The company had to furlough 200 workers in April of 2020 when the pandemic was putting a severe break in the supply chain from overseas. The furloughs were short-lived, and most workers were back at their jobs by the end of April.

The company had its employees working 50% of their weekly hours and then utilized the Kansas Shared Work Program which allowed employees to collect a portion of available unemployment benefits.
