Michael Hadley died Friday, February 21, 2025 at the age of 79 at the Stoneybrook Retirement Center in Manhattan.

Michael was born on December 16, 1945 in Hutchinson, KS.  He graduated from Nickerson  High School in 1963.  He received his bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University, a master’s from Emporia State University, and a doctorate from Kansas State University. 

Michael taught English, Speech Communication, Philosophy, Journalism, and Religion courses at a number of locations including Butler County Community College (El Dorado, KS), Northeastern State University (Tahlequah, OK), Kansas State University (Manhattan, KS), Westminster College (Fulton, MO), and the United States Navy.  A successful debate coach, he chaired the Speech Department at Westminster College.

Michael was also a talented artist, singer, and author.  A long-time resident of Leonardville, KS, in retirement he devoted his time to watching classic movies, listening to and/or reading political commentary, writing, drives through the Flint Hills, and his greenhouse. 

Michael married Della Doyle on October 3, 1969.  They had one daughter, Heather,  born on February 25, 1971.  Michael and Della divorced in 1974.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, and his daughter, Heather.

Michael is survived by two grandchildren:  Jordan (Wichita) and Sutter (El Dorado).

No public service is planned.  The family will have a private service.
