HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson High School is opening its new spirit store, Sammy’s Shack, with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
The idea for Sammy’s Shack originated with principal Ryan Ewy, who wanted to offer a one-stop-shop for students and the community to purchase gear to show their school spirit. The store will be managed by business students, similarly to the Sweet Treat coffee shop located inside the Hutchinson Career & Technical Education Academy building. The store will carry Booster Club merchandise, as well as other products that the students will select and manage.
A unique aspect of Sammy’s Shack is that it will be open to the public during regular school hours. A door for the public was installed so parents and community members can visit during school hours and certain game nights.
