Joyce L. Van Buren, 76, of South Hutchinson, KS, died June 11, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS. She was born November 25, 1947, in Severy, KS, to Johnny and Mary Ellen (Kastl) Hufford. 

She moved to Hutchinson in the 1950’s and attended Sherman Jr. High and Hutchinson High School. On December 30, 1963, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Terry Van Buren, Sr., in Burrton. The couple started their lives in Hutchinson and eventually made Plevna their home while traveling the country for pipeline work. Joyce owned and operated The Country Place in Turon, KS, where she was well known for her homemade pies.  

Joyce was a proud homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her husband, three children, and later in life, grandchildren. She worked hard for her family as they were her pride and joy.  

She was a loving and devoted member of the Haven United Methodist Church, Haven, KS. 

Joyce is survived by: the love of her life, Terry Van Buren of South Hutchinson, KS; sons, Terry (Sheri) Van Buren Jr. of Hutchinson, Mike (Michelle) Van Buren of Partridge, KS; daughter, Michele Dawn Loewen of Arkansas City, KS; grandchildren, Tiffany O’Neal, Katie Van Buren, Justin Combs, Kelsey Van Buren, Abbey Van Buren,  Caleb Loewen, and Nick Van Buren;  and great grandchildren, Spencer O'Neal, Cammie O'Neal, Sean O'Neal, JohnPatrick Van Buren-O'Neal,  Kendall Combs, Lilly Loewen, Jude Loewen, and Elise Loewen.  

She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers, Paul Hufford, James "Jimmy" Hufford, and Howard Hufford; son, John David Van Buren; grandson, Joshua Van Buren. 

Joyce will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, generosity, and the ability to make everything more beautiful than she found it.

Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life will take place at 3 p.m. on July 27, 2024, at Partridge Community Church with Pastor Sheridan Irick officiating. Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, at Elliott Mortuary.
