LINDSBORG, Kan. — The fifth Big Rural Brainstorm will take place in downtown Lindsborg April 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the J.O. Sundstrom Conference Center.
The Big Rural Brainstorm is an “un-conference” that brings together Kansans from every corner of the state who want to make a difference where they live. It’s a day of fast-paced facilitated sessions, in big groups and in small groups, located in creative spaces spread throughout downtown Lindsborg, that prompt discussion and thinking about new ways to work on things rural Kansas cares about.
Who should attend the event?
People who want to make Kansas a better place to live
Anyone with an idea that could use some Good Thinking from fellow Kansans
Kansans who are committed to implementing new ideas and getting stuff done
Champions of community-building projects who can use some support - and who can give support to others
Local government, tourism, artists, farmers, entrepreneurs, economic development, health care, elder care, child care, educators, librarians, community foundations, rural telecoms, housing, etc. Anyone in the business of rural living.
Advocates from state agencies and organizations
The Big Rural Brainstorm's goal is to add value and momentum to new and ongoing projects. It works because those who attend create the list of brainstorming topics together. The registration form starts with a few topics of interest that the Foundation has collected from Kansans and a space for you to add your own ideas.
Space is limited: The 2023 Big Rural Brainstorm will have a maximum of 130 participants. As of Wednesday, the conference was already at 42% capacity. Cost is $68 and includes breakfast, lunch and snacks to fuel the brainstorms.
The Kansas Sampler Foundation is a 501(c) non-profit organization based near Inman. The Foundation develops programs and opportunities to support rural Kansas.
