Police arrest aggravated robbery suspect

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson police announced the arrest of a man connected with an armed robbery that took place earlier this week.

According to the release, shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a home in the city with an armed intruder. A victim was forced into a bedroom at gunpoint and the suspect, later identified as William J. Alexander, stole the person's car and fled.

Alexander was also a suspect in a burglary in the same area of the city.

Wichita police located the vehicle Wednesday and brought Alexander back to Hutch, where he was booked Wednesday evening on aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and burglary-residential.

Alexander is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
