Monica Renee McClure, 44, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 in Valley Center, Kansas.
Monica was born in Wichita, Kansas to Robert Ennice Martin and Shelia Ann (Frevert) Martin on February 14, 1980. She graduated from Andover High School in 1998 and earned a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Pittsburg State University in 2002. She earned a Masters in Psychology from Emporia State University in 2012.
Monica spent her career helping the underserved in her community. She worked as a case manager at the Mental Health Association assisting adults with severe and persistent mental illness. In addition, she worked at El Dorado Correctional Facility as an Intake and Testing Administrator. Monica’s passion for helping others led her to create a hospice program and pet therapy program for the prisoners at the facility.
Monica was an avid dog lover, especially Pomeranians. She had previously served as President of the Kansas Toy Dog Club and the Hospitality Chair for the Wichita Dog Show. She showed her Pomeranians at AKC Confirmation and Obedience Dog Shows earning multiple awards. She also trained her Pomeranians to be therapy dogs to assist children hospitalized at Wesley Children’s Hospital.
Monica was survived by her husband of 10 years, Craig Alan; her 3 bonus children, Tyler, Trenton and Trista; her grandson Joey; her parents, Robert and Shelia; her siblings, Tonya (Ryan) and Wade (Noelle); and her niece, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 1550 N Chapel Hill Street Wichita, KS 67206.
