According to court records, Kansas City police responded to a reported stabbing in downtown Kansas City on April 12 and located the victim lying in the middle of the street with apparent blood coming from his neck. He was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Multiple witnesses in the area reported seeing a man wearing a dark shirt, mismatched shoes, and jeans engaged in an altercation with the victim.
