HUTCHINSON, Kan. — With the official change from summer to fall that happened on Saturday, that doesn't mean the desire to travel goes away, just that the reasons to go may change a little, according to Shawn Steward with AAA Kansas.

"Fall is very popular for scenic drives and quick weekend getaways," Steward said. "There's really so much to see and do, not only in our state, but certainly other parts of the country. Fall foliage is very popular for some people to drive and see. Here in Kansas, Travel Kansas, the state tourism board, provides a lot of great resources on their website."

Below are some links to those resources, thanks to AAA Kansas.

"It's always very important, if you are going to take road trips, here in the fall or any time of the year, make sure that your vehicle has been properly checked out," Steward said. "We talk a lot about batteries and tires, but also just make sure that all the main systems in your vehicle are working, your belts and hoses are in good shape, just so you don't end up being broken down on the side of the road."

More than half of the summer service calls in Kansas required a tow, so not every breakdown is something that will allow your trip to continue.
