Cheryl Kay McCown, 78, died October 18, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born on February 26, 1947, in Hutchinson to Loren C. and Velma L. (Bearden) McCown.
Cheryl was a Hutchinson High School graduate. She worked as an operator at Tyson’s and Doskocil, before retiring and working at Skaets Steak Shop. Cheryl’s cooking at Skaets brought joy to the Hutchinson community for many years. She loved her two dogs, Storm and Sweet Pea. Cheryl cherished spending time with her “adopted “family, Tammy and five grandchildren.
Cheryl is survived by: her nephew, Jeffrey Bishop; adopted family, Tammy Tidd and Jarrod Mayfield of Hutchinson, and their children, Jadda Tidd, Sequoia, Karin, Axle, Jenzen Mayfield; and her Skaets Family.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; sister, Donna; and brother, Virgil.
Celebration of Life will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2025, at Skaets Steak Shop, 2300 N. Main St., Hutchinson. Private burial will take place at a later date in Fairlawn Burial Park. Cremation has taken place.
