Man stopped in Hesston on suspicion of kidnapping

HESSTON, Kan. —A man was arrested in Harvey County this morning on suspicion of aggravated kidnapping and other possible charges.

The Harvey County Sheriff’s Department reports that around 7:20 a.m. dispatch advised a female caller reporting that she had been beaten and was being kidnapped by a man in a stolen vehicle.  

Officers from the Sheriff's Office, Newton PD and Hesston PD stopped the vehicle at Casey's on Lincoln Blvd in Hesston. Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop, which involves officers displaying their weapons to maintain safety for all parties involved.  

The occupants complied fully and the male driver was arrested and booked into the Harvey County Detention Center on multiple charges including Aggravated Kidnapping and Domestic Battery. The suspect and victim were acquaintances. No names have been released at this time.

The vehicle was discovered to have an altered VIN and was previously reported as stolen.
